Read It Before Anyone Else

Expected Behaviour is looking for honest readers. If you review books, maintain a reading blog, post on BookTok or BookTube, or run a book club, you can request a free advance copy in exchange for a review.

Copies are limited. I read every application personally and aim to respond within a week.

Reviewers

Goodreads reviewers, NetGalley regulars, Amazon Vine members, and StoryGraph voices.

Creators

BookTok, BookTube, Bookstagram, Substack, and reading blogs with an engaged audience.

Book Clubs

Hosts planning a group read. Get copies for the club and I’ll join a virtual Q&A.

What I ask in return

  • An honest review posted to at least one public platform (Goodreads, Amazon, your blog, or a social video).
  • Your real opinion. Low stars are fine. A review that sounds like marketing copy helps nobody.
  • Review posted within six weeks of receiving the copy, where possible.
  • A note back with the link, so I can thank you and read it.

What you’ll be reading

Year 120. Civilisation is divided. One percent live as monitored Citizens inside walled Havens. Millions survive in the abandoned Remainder, hunted by autonomous machines called Threshers. Three points of view, one system, and the moment it begins to fail.

Dystopian science fiction. Adult. Around 120,000 words. Delivered as EPUB or PDF.

Questions

Do I have to give five stars?

No. Honest is the whole point. Rate it how you found it. A thoughtful three-star review is worth more than a hollow five.

Can I quote from the ARC?

Short quotes inside a review are welcome. Please note it as an advance copy, and don’t reproduce long sections, since the final text may still shift.

Will you send print copies?

A small number of print ARCs are available for reviewers with significant reach or book clubs. Mention it in your application and I’ll consider it.

I didn’t finish it. Do I still owe a review?

No. A DNF with a short note explaining why is fine, and honestly more useful than a forced finish. Tell me and we’re square.
